BLACK SMOKERS: NEPTUNE will power instruments at Endeavor Ridge, which is famous for its hydrothermal vents. The vents spew mineral-rich plumes of 300 ºC water from rocky chimneys called black smokers. The hot water and chemicals feed an undersea jungle of odd creatures.
