Heading Off Emergencies in Large Electric Grids Continued

[3] The typical load on a 750-kV transmission line is shown for a period of one year. The line operates in emergency conditions for only 1.4 percent of the time, loaded conditions for 5.6 percent, and normal conditions for 93 percent.
